Hello class! Today will be talking about everyone's favorite subject...clothes!
Hanbok
Hanbok literally means "Korean clothing." However, today it is used to describe traditional Korean clothing that is semi-formal or formal and worn on special occasions. A woman's hanbok consists of a wrap around skirt and jacket. A man's has baggy pants and a jacket. Hanboks are known for their simple lines and vibrant colors, which is evident in the children's hanbok below:
Isn't it beautiful?
Our child will for sure have a hanbok from Korea. Usually the foster mother gives you one. If not, we will purchase one. I know my mom and mother-in-law are dying just thinking about how cute their future grandchild will look in one :)
In next week's classs we'll learn about one of the occasions that one would wear their hanbok.

Going to a hanbok store is definately on my list of places to go in S. Korea... if I get there and don't have to send DH alone.
I bestowed upon you a blog award. Go check out my blog to find out what it is!
There are winter and summer Hanboks. The winter ones are made of heavier fabric (often wool) and are of richer, darker colors. They are quite expensive, but you will get a discount if you bring along a cute kid or two!
I lived in Seoul for two years teaching at an American International School. I loved it!
