Popsicles

About a month ago we had a 'playground incident.' Gabe is not scared at the playground but is very cautious, so it's kind of ironic that he got hurt. He was running down a hill and tripped and fell smack dab into his aunt's knee cap. The result was gushing blood, a hysterical Gabe, and a panicked mom. Thankfully, Aunt Bari is cool under pressure. We eventually got the bleeding to stop and drove home. Gabe was hysterical the whole way home and was trying to say something. I finally deciphered that he was saying 'more park.' Poor guy didn't care that his face was the size of a softball and had blood in his mouth, he was just upset his park time was cut short.
His medicine for his swollen face and terribly bruised gums, was some children's ibuprofen and popsicles to bring the swelling down. Dr. Bari suggested popsciles for about a week. So after a loooonnng story you see why my kid is in pj's eating a popsicle.

Lucky duck! It's funny that he wanted more park, but I know when blood is involved nothing is very funny for the mama.

Popsicles make just about anything better. Looks like you made yours. What kind are they? I need to get some molds to make my own too. Mmmm. Oh, Gabe! That sounds a like a big, "boo-boo" (as Little D calls them now). I hope your face/mouth is feeling better. Ouch!

I agree that popsicles make EVERYTHING better. And who wouldn't love a photo of your child? He's so cute!

Poor Gabe, but it sounds like a weeks worth of popsicles made up for the lost park time. :)
BTW - I love your pumpkin patch shots, didn't get a chance to comment before. :)

i love his light blue pjs! they match boo-ba!

popsicles ARE the best! i love that he was upset about leaving the park, not about his lip bleeding and swelling up! that kid loves a good park!

I love those pictures! Gabe looks so cute in those pjs eating his popsicle. Glad the park incident wasn't too serious!

Oh poor Gabe! But I love that his crying was for the park, not his boo-boo. I would have rushed home, too. Toddler + blood = scared mama! I'm glad he is OK and that the week of popsicles made everything better :)

Oh Gabe, you really are ALL. BOY. I love it! Crying because your park time was cut short, and not for the reason behind that?! Awesome. And boo boos that affect the mouth/head are SCARY, I'm right there with you Mama! Scary!

And those pajamas?! Love.

That is one of my biggest fears as a Mom-my little child getting hurt and me freaking out because I won't be sure what to do next and therefore making a completely irrational decision. I'm glad Gabe cared more about the park than his boo boo!

oh, poor little guy. :( Mouth injuries always send me into a panic -- why must there be so much blood?? Popsicles sound like the perfect medicine!

Hi! It's been a long time. I'm Marmants from the boards. The one with the Latvian Husband that knows someone you went to school with. How are you? Gabe is so big! Our little one's one year Gotcha Day was yesterday. Time flies. I'm horrible at checking blogs. I stumbled on yours from another blog and thought, Hey I remember them!!! He is adorable.

I'm glad that Gabe got to enjoy those yummy looking popsicles while healing. ( I just saw your f.book post to janet about the popsicle maker. that looks way cool! much better than the wimpy little plastic molds that I have! :)
And I LOVE Gabe's little PLEX doll! I was just telling Glenn I need to hunt some Gabba dolls down for Noah for Christmas. :)

Poor guy! Good thing his Aunt stays cool under pressure! And sometimes popsicles are the best medicine.
