Fingerprinting

We had our 2nd round of fingerprints taken yesterday at USCIS. The first round, back in June was for the state of Illinois to do a background check on us. The fingerprints yesterday are for Homeland Security to do a background check. After they check us out and it's determined that we're not terrorists or have other shady dealings, we should get our I-171H. This basically is approval on a federal level for us to adopt a child from abroad. We hope to get it by March 1.

I still think it is crazy that they don't have some kind of database for our fingerprints. I was shocked that I had to provide them to like 3 different government agencies. You would just think they would all work together and share information.

It feels so good having that done though, doesn't it! Congratulations and I hope you will have a quick process!

Yay for another step!

The man who did my fingerprints was over the moon excited for us when I told him we were adopting. He was super sweet and made something like being fingerprinted fun!
