Morning Person

I know most people are not...but I am a morning person. I love the stillness, the freshness, the light gradually getting brighter, the possibilities of the day, I just focus better and am in a better mood. So in turn, I am not a night owl. In fact, when I was in college my motto for studying was "If it ain't done by 1 (am) it ain't gettin' done." My hours at my job for the past 13 years were 6:30am-4pm, and that suited me fine.
During the past few weeks, I'm tapping back into my morning groove. Lately, I've been getting up at 5:30 taking a shower making my coffee, checking my email and blogs, listening to Gabe babble in his crib, then getting him up at 7am. It's so nice to have this morning time and be dressed before 9am. I find that I just function better all day.

Whether or not this homey becomes a morning person, remains to be seen:

I think I am a morning person too. Unfortunately, Spencer is more so. And as soon as he hears _anything_ he's up. Which means no time for me to "ease into the day" which is hard. I'm very jealous that Gabe will sit and babble in his crib for you!

Christine-
I thought of you as I wrote this. Sure, you could be a morning person if your son slept past 5am!

I'm a morning person too!! Unfortunately, my girls are also morning people. No more crib = no more quiet time for mommy in the morning.

I am totally a morning person too. I love mornings. I go to bed early since I am not at all a night owl.

I am _so_ not with you here! :) I'm a night owl, through and through. Though I totally agree that one can be super-productive early in the morning, I HAAAATE being up before 7am. Good think O sleeps later than most kiddos.

Yikes! I'm am NOT a morning person. I have often wished I was because I find mornings to be lovely - just as you described. But, get me up before 7 and I am the grump that ruins the stillness. I can work all night if I have to!

I'm with Kris, Elizabeth and Sue! Night owl here. I'm grumpy in the morning, always have been. (I can't even IMAGINE starting my job at 6:30am!!) I'm really hoping that changes when I have kids but it sounds like once a night owl, always a night owl. Anyway, this will be a challenge for me.

Btw, I can't tell if Gabe is happy or not in this photo :) - you'll have to keep us posted if he turns out to be a morning person like you!

Aaack! When left to my own cycle (read: post-college, pre-kids!) I would go to SLEEP around 5:30a and get up about 11a. Mornings are NOT my friend. ;)

First, I'm very happy that you're falling into a nice little routine each morning. :)

I am married to a morning person and I am not at all. I take a little while to get going in the morning. So, it should be really interesting once Baby G gets home!

i SO can not relate.

not. at. all.

but i wish that i could. i would LOVE to be a morning person right now, as all three of my boys seem to think that 6:30am is the perfect time to wake up. i prefer 9ish.
