Happy Chuseok!

The nice thing about being a Korean boy with a Jewish daddy and a Catholic mommy...you get to celebrate lots o' holidays. Last week was a Korean holiday that we are incorporating into our list of celebrations. Chuseok is roughly equivalent to our Thanksgiving. It is a harvest holiday and one where you count your blessings and thank your ancestors. We were very thankful to have a Korean dinner with our good friends. They supplied the bee bim bop and other Korean treats while we brought some Sake and Asian beer. We all said 'cheers' and counted our blessings for good friends, good food, and thanked Korea for the greatest gifts of all...our sons and our families.

Here are the pics...

i love your photos of our evening! i'm going to get those glutinous rice balls again, they were delicious! thanks for the beer and sake and for spending the evening with us. we truly have so much to be thankful for.

funny story. i was having some sake tonight at dinner, and C wanted some. i told him no and that it was sake for adults and he couldn't have any. he put his foot on the table and pointed to his "socky" :). love that kid!

I'm glad you got to celebrate with good friends! Your meal looks delicious, and that's a very good "Kelly" photo. :)

Ha! I love that I'm famous for taking photos of tables of yummy food! I guess that is my specialty :) You did a lovely job yourself. I think it's so cool that you guys got together to celebrate this Chuseok and that you counted your friendship as one of your many blessings. So true. Those two boys are, as you said, the biggest blessing of all and I LOVE seeing them together in photos ... and in their hanboks no less! Of course we all know Gabe practically lives in his hanbok, right?

Excellent looking dinner. And nice job on the drinks! It's hilarious to see these boys playing together, and in each picture there is a different and new toy: Choo choo, blue rocking horse, lawn mower, inflatable toys - I love how most all the toys have to make an appearance when toddlers get together!

I love the "Kelly" photo comment! I always show those to my husband and wonder if I will be able to cook the wonderful looking Korean food everyone else does when we have our son home!
