Fun Facts

You may think there is nothing more to know about me, but since I've won another blog award, here is even MORE info about me, me and more me!

Here's what I'm supposed to do:
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award. (I'll do this one)
2. Share 7 things about yourself. (and this one too)
3. Award 15 awesome bloggers. (Grace pretty much nominated every single blogger I know, so I second her nomination for you all!)

1. My friend Grace gave me this one and you all know I think she's fabulous! She's funny, relate-able, a great writer, stylish, and a fantastic new mom.

2. Here's 7 fun facts about JoJo:
1) I have a crazy good memory. I never, ever forget a face. I have bumped into flight attendants and people that sat a few rows away at sporting events (see, crazy, right?) I will remember a conversation we had a few years ago. So, be careful what you say to me, cuz I will remember it :) The one thing I cannot remember is medical issues. Your mom had surgery 3 months ago? Nope, don't remember. Your coworker has some blood condition? Never heard about it. I'm not sure what my mental block is on this subject, but it can be bad since people's medical issues are a BIG deal to them. Sorry if I have or will offend you on this.

2) I collect postcards. I started this my year abroad (1994). I found the postcard people took much better pics than I could. Lots of people send me postcards from all over the world, and I love it. I find it's a good thing to collect since it's easy, cheap and fun for other people to do. My favorites are of rinky-dink towns or really far away places. But any postcard that really captures the place, is what I like. I think my collection is at about 400 and I have them displayed in a carousel in my living room.

3) You probably know this already, but I overuse 'quotes.' Not sure why, but I do and I know it's a 'slightly' annoying habit.

4) I regularly call people by their last name. That includes Dave and Gabe. Yes, I call my son by our last name. I love nicknames in general and if you're one of my peeps you probably know this.

5)During my 4 years at college, I worked at 2 different record stores. For you youngins (and you know who you are), before Target, Amazon, itunes, etc., people would buy CD's, tapes and yes even records at an actual store that only sold music. My college had a great music scene, which made it even more fun.

6)I love a winter walk. I get bundled up, breathe in the cold air, and see how everything looks stripped bare. It's peaceful and energizing.

7)I watch the credits. Yes, to me a movie is not over until the last credit rolls by. What started out as a stand in principle, has turned out to be a nice way to let a movie sink in and not wait in line to exit the theater.. I like to read the names, find out sang 'that one song,' see where it was filmed, who was the caterer, how many 'Gabes' worked on the movie etc.

Phew!! Know me better now?

love this! love learning little things about you! #1 amazes me - about your ability to recognize faces!!! but totally funny is your mental block on medical issues! oh, and when i was little, i used to think it would be super cool to work at tower records (that's the one we had by us). so you must be super cool!

I always love reading fun facts, and these did NOT disappoint! I will have to send you a postcard from Birmingham--bet you don't have one!

Ummm, re: #5. I don't understand. You worked in some vital statistics office while listening to music? If you didn't have an iPod, how did you play music? I'm so confused.

I love your list of fun facts!

I love that you collect postcards... and I love how you display them. For every business trip that Doug has been on since Spencer has come home, he's sent him a postcard. My dad did this when I was little, and I still have my stack o' cards. Now the tradition continues. It's fun to see what Doug picks and Spencer loves getting his "po'cards" in the mail. I may need to borrow your display idea when Spencer gets a little older.

And I happen to appreciate #1. As someone who has medical issues, I'd prefer not to be defined by them... so forget away.

And I can *totally* see you in the record scene. And this brings new light to a recent conversation... so thank you for that.

That was a very long response for this post. Egads!

These lists are so fun to read! I'm amazed with your memory... Do you remember me? Maybe we passed by each other on the quad in the early 90s? :)

I love learning things about you that I didn't know! And how did I miss the postcard carousel in your living room??

I loooooove this post! So many juicy tidbits about a friend I thought I knew :) I am beyond envious of your good memory. I started off with a bad one and since Max came home it's just gone down hill. So random that there's a medical condition exception. I love that you collect post cards. Do you have one from Seattle?? If not, we can remedy that. Oh and I love CCL/Doug's idea to send Spencer a postcard from biz trips. That is an awesome tradition! Oh and obviously I'm ignoring Cori's agist comment. Grrr!!!! I cannot WAIT until she turns 30, damnit!

i love that you worked in a record store...and now i'm picturing you in "empire records" :)

What a memory! I remember faces, but not names.
And postcards you say... you do realize you will be getting a pile in the mail now!

Hmm, maybe I need to start sending two postcards on my business trips now.

I wasn't cool enough to work at a record store in college. I worked at its much nerdier (but equally obsolete) sibling: the video rental store. I even had my own "Doug Recommends" shelf.

Love learning facts. I wish I had that good of a memory!!

I am right there with you on some of these things and so far away on others. I am completely jealous of your memory skills to match faces, as I have none of that:(
I'm into nicknames, too! And also worked at a Record Store in college - but, honestly, it was a lame one.
And YOU'RE the person I have to crawl over when I leave movie theatre?!?!?
Great list!

You know full well I need to borrow some of your sharp memory {"Wait, wait, wait, WHO? Ohhh, yeah, now I know!"}....and your music knowledge {"Eddie Vedder??"}.

Love your postcard carousel!

400 postcards displayed in your living room! That's awesome. I love that you call your son and husband by their last names. I do that a lot too. I'm imagining that you know a lot about music, having worked in record stores. Do you have a lot of CDs?

it's a good thing you have a good memory, since i clearly do not! i didn't learn anything new about you here. just kidding. i didn't know about 6 and 7. i nearly spit out my drink when i saw what cori wrote in reference to your music knowledge. i kinda miss those old record stores. sigh.

and i'm glad we're friends and that you call me by my last name sometimes :P.
